Samsung SDI will present its latest energy storage system (ESS) products at Renewable Energy Plus (RE+) 2025, taking place September 9–11 at The Venetian Expo & Caesars Forum in Las Vegas. Under the theme “All-American, Proven & Ready,” the company will highlight next-generation ESS solutions built around U.S.-manufactured battery cells, aligning with domestic energy incentives and tariff policies.
At the event, Samsung SDI will introduce two new containerized ESS models, the Samsung Battery Box (SBB) 1.7 and SBB 2.0. Each SBB unit houses cells, modules and racks inside a standardized 20-foot container for rapid connection to the power grid. The SBB platform earned a CES Innovation Award earlier this year for its streamlined installation, high performance and robust safety features.
The SBB 1.7 delivers about 17% greater energy density compared to its predecessor, enabling more capacity in the same footprint. The SBB 2.0 employs lithium iron phosphate cells and leverages proprietary design enhancements alongside advanced lifespan-prediction algorithms to achieve extended cycle life. Both models incorporate Enhanced Direct Injection (EDI) technology, which further boosts operational safety and reliability.
In addition to the new SBB lineup, Samsung SDI will exhibit its uninterruptible power supply (UPS) solution and a thermal propagation prevention safety system, both of which received the Smarter E Europe 2025 Innovation Award in Munich last May.
A Samsung SDI spokesperson noted, “We will unveil locally tailored ESS battery products and innovative technologies aimed at the rapidly growing U.S. market. With high-performance, high-efficiency ESS batteries, we aim to accelerate our expansion in the U.S. market.”
RE+ is North America’s largest energy industry exhibition, drawing over 1,300 companies to showcase the latest technologies, policies and market trends.
