Company Overview

Cleantron is a Dutch lithium-ion battery systems company headquartered in Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands. The company specializes in engineering and producing modular and swappable battery modules and complete packs for e-mobility and industrial applications. Cleantron combines in-house cell testing, proprietary modular power control and Battery Management System (BMS) development to deliver tailored battery solutions for OEMs, fleet operators and automation providers. Its stated mission is to support sustainable electrification by supplying reliable, safety-compliant battery systems and production services that enable rapid deployment across light electric vehicles, warehouse automation and off-highway equipment.

Battery Technology

Cleantron develops modular battery architecture using its MPC (Modular Power Control) approach to combine capacity and power blocks. Core technologies include impedance-aware BMS algorithms, ISO 26262-aligned functional safety, distributed CANbus control for multi-pack systems, and laser welding with cell-level fusing for intrinsic safety. The company is cell-agnostic, performs in-house cell characterisation (including LTO for fast-charge applications), and applies automated assembly and inline testing. Design choices target improved cycle life, predictable thermal behaviour, and recyclable module construction to support safety, durability and circularity across mobility and industrial use cases.

Products

Cleantron offers low- and high-voltage lithium-ion modules and packs (24V–HV), swappable CLP modules (~9 kg), e-bike circular batteries, active and passive-cooled high-voltage packs, ISO-aligned BMS solutions, motor controllers and chargers. Products are supplied as standard units or engineered-to-order, serving EVs (microcars, scooters, LCVs), AGVs and warehousing systems, construction and agricultural machinery, and last-mile mobility.

Recent Projects

In 2025 Cleantron advanced its High Power MPC configuration for urban mobility and logistics and introduced swappable CLP modules into modular vehicle systems. The company piloted integration with TU/ecomotive’s Phoenix project, combining fixed and swappable batteries to extend range and serviceability. Cleantron also showcased production and BMS developments at industry events in 2025, demonstrating scalable multi-pack deployments and fast-charge-ready solutions.

Investors

Cleantron’s funding and growth have been supported by regional and sustainability-focused investors including BOM (Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij), DOEN Foundation, Catalus Capital, YARD Energy, Invest-NL, ING Sustainable Investments and Somerset Capital Partners. Recent rounds were structured to support industrialisation and product development; detailed ownership percentages and round amounts are not publicly disclosed.
