Clearlake Capital Group, L.P. was founded in 2006 by José E. Feliciano, Behdad Eghbali and Steven Chang. Based in Santa Monica, California, the firm maintains affiliates in Dallas, London, Dublin, Luxembourg, Abu Dhabi and Singapore. Managing over $90 billion in assets, Clearlake applies transactions across the capital structure—from buyouts and corporate divestitures to recapitalizations and reorganizations. The firm’s OPS® method places equal weight on operations, people and strategy, combining deep industry knowledge with operational experience and patient capital to deliver sustainable growth alongside management teams.

Clearlake targets lower and middle market opportunities across three core sectors: software and technology, energy and industrials, and food and consumer services. Its integrated framework comprises Clearlake Capital Partners for majority or full-control transactions, Clearlake Opportunities Partners for structured equity and opportunistic credit, and WhiteStar Asset Management for structured credit and collateralized loan obligations. Through this flexible mandate, the firm adapts to both private and public market situations, emphasizing downside protection and operational improvements. The team has deployed more than $57 billion in liquid and illiquid credit investments.

Environmental, social and governance principles guide Clearlake’s capital allocation, particularly in clean tech and battery technology. In 2022, the firm backed Alkegen, a specialty materials company advancing lithium-ion battery performance, energy storage and emission reduction technologies, including a majority investment in Luyang Energy Savings Material Co. that June. That July, Clearlake acquired BBB Industries, extending its reach into energy storage and solar components through its renewable energy division, TerrePower.
