Company Overview

COBCO S.A. is a joint venture between Morocco’s investment fund Al Mada and China’s CNGR Advanced Materials, headquartered in El Jadida, Morocco. Founded to supply essential battery materials for electric vehicles and energy storage systems, its mission is to establish a low-carbon, high-quality, closed-loop battery material manufacturing ecosystem, providing responsibly sourced and environmentally driven solutions for European and North American markets while supporting Morocco’s industrial strategy.

Battery Technology

COBCO covers the full battery materials value chain, refining nickel, cobalt, manganese, lithium and phosphates. It manufactures Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) precursor cathodes (pCAM) with a capacity of 120000 tons per year, plans Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cathodes at 60000 tons per year, and develops black mass recycling at 60000 tons annually, supplying materials equivalent to 70 GWh per year.

Products

Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) precursor cathodes (pCAM) for high-energy lithium-ion batteries (120000 t/year), Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cathodes (60000 t/year), and recycled black mass materials (60000 t/year), enabling 70 GWh of battery production annually.

Recent Projects

2025: Inaugurated first manufacturing unit (capacity 40000 tons); Signed strategic pCAM supply agreement with Umicore; Launched first pCAM NMC production lines in Morocco.
