Company Overview

Duesenfeld is a German sustainable battery recycling company based in Wendeburg. Since its establishment, it has focused on addressing environmental challenges of lithium-ion battery disposal by using patented processes that reduce carbon emissions and achieve high recovery rates for lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite, supporting the circular economy and electric mobility sector.

Battery Technology

Duesenfeld’s core technology combines deep discharging, mechanical crushing, low-temperature processing, and hydrometallurgical techniques. This patented process achieves a 91% recycling rate at the cell level, eliminates toxic emissions, removes fluorides, recovers electrolytes for reuse, and saves 8.1 tons of CO2 per ton of batteries compared to primary extraction (4.8 tons versus conventional melting).

Products

Duesenfeld operates a demonstration recycling plant with a 3,000-ton annual capacity and licenses its mechanical and hydrometallurgical low-temperature recycling technology to third-party recyclers worldwide.

Recent Projects

In 2024, Duesenfeld received the German Sustainability Award for its R&D in environmentally friendly battery recycling. It partnered with ReElement Technologies to supply high-quality LFP black mass, operates a demonstration plant, and is expanding larger-scale facilities while licensing its technology globally.
