Energize Capital is a Chicago-based venture capital firm founded in 2016 in partnership with Invenergy. Managing more than $1.8 billion in assets as of June 2025, the firm invests globally in companies that support a shift to a digital, low-carbon energy system. It changed its name from Energize Ventures to Energize Capital to reflect an expanded focus across early-stage ventures and growth equity. Backed by institutional and strategic partners, the team has deployed capital across over 36 companies and works closely with entrepreneurs shaping clean energy and environmental solutions.
The firm targets environmental solutions by supporting asset-light, technology-driven companies. Investment areas include grid software platforms, data-driven energy advisory services, cybersecurity for energy infrastructure, and operations software for data centers. Through a $330 million second fund and a $430 million third fund dedicated to digital tools that accelerate energy and industrial transformations, Energize Capital has committed more than $920 million in venture and growth investments. A later-stage program, Energize Endurance, offers follow-on support to companies scaling their offerings.
Notable investments include Tyba, a battery optimization platform that raised $14 million in a Series A round led by Energize Capital, and TWAICE, another battery software specialist. The firm also led a growth round for Nira Energy, which streamlines grid connections for renewable projects, and backs 5, a data analytics energy advisor for commercial and industrial clients. By placing representatives on select boards, Energize Capital maintains active involvement in improving battery performance, grid integration, and efficient energy use.
