EESL designs and produces advanced lithium-ion cells and battery systems, employing high-energy-density chemistries and modern manufacturing techniques. Its Bengaluru gigascale facility integrates sophisticated production methods, quality-control systems, and R&D-driven pack design and assembly. Collaborations with Honeywell and international technology partners enhance safety, efficiency, and performance.
Manufactures lithium-ion cells, modules, and battery packs for electric vehicles and stationary energy storage, emphasizing high energy density, long cycle life, and reliability.
EESL is constructing a dedicated lithium-ion cell gigafactory with a total planned capacity of 12 GWh (gigawatt-hours), being developed in two phases. Phase 1 will have 6 GWh capacity, with production lines for both NMC and LFP chemistries in cylindrical and prismatic formats. Trial production is set to begin in 2025, with full-scale commercial production expected to ramp up 4–5 months after.
Fully owned (100.0%) and funded by Exide Industries Limited, with a total investment of ₹33.0 billion, including a ₹1.5 billion rights issue in 2024.
