Company Overview

FEV Group, founded in 1978 by Prof. Dr. Franz Pischinger and headquartered in Aachen, Germany, is a family-owned engineering and technology development company with global operations. The firm provides vehicle and propulsion engineering, battery systems and testing, software for connected and automated mobility, energy and resources solutions, aerospace services, and management consulting. Drawing on more than four decades of industry experience and academic roots, FEV delivers end-to-end services from concept through series development. Its mission, summarized as Feel Evolution, emphasizes driving innovation for people, society, and the environment.

Battery Technology

FEV specializes in system-level battery and electrification engineering: module and pack design, BMS algorithm development, thermal management, safety engineering, and cell characterization maintained in an Aachen cell lab and database. Key differentiators include partnerships on solid-state lithium ceramic batteries with ProLogium (cell-level energy ~321 Wh/kg, ~749 Wh/L; ultra-fast charging of 5–60% in ~5 minutes, 80% in ~8 minutes) and production-ready LFP pack development (Mahindra). FEV operates large independent test centers (eDLP) for performance, durability, abuse, and homologation testing and integrates charging and energy-system solutions under FEV energy + resources.

Products

FEV provides vehicle development services, battery modules and packs, BMS and control software, thermal and safety solutions, large-scale testing and validation, and software for connected and automated mobility (FEV.io). Offerings serve passenger and commercial EVs, buses and trucks, rail, aerospace, and stationary energy applications. Consulting covers technology roadmaps, sourcing, recycling and second-life planning, and total-cost-of-ownership modelling.

Recent Projects

Recent projects (2025–2026) include co-development and a CES 2026 demonstration of ProLogium solid-state EV battery modules, showing high energy density and ultra-fast charging while supporting system integration and validation. A joint program with Mahindra delivered a 59/79 kWh LFP pack that entered series production in early 2025 for electric SUVs. FEV also launched the FEV GenAI Hub to apply generative models in vehicle development and homologation and partnered with Chiyoda on sustainable energy infrastructure initiatives.

Investors

FEV Group is privately held and controlled by the Pischinger family. Governance is led by the founding family with Prof. Dr. Stefan Pischinger as chairman of the shareholders’ board and Dr. Patrick Hupperich as CEO. There are no public records of external private-equity or venture funding.
