Investissement Québec, founded in 1998 in Montréal, is a government-backed corporation dedicated to supporting economic growth and innovation in Quebec. It offers financial solutions to businesses of all sizes, including loans, equity investments, venture capital and non-repayable contributions. The organization manages over 70 specialized funds, typically investing between CA$10 million and CA$50 million in companies at various stages, from seed to expansion. Industries served range from biotechnology and information technology to advanced manufacturing, providing tailored support to entrepreneurs and established firms.

To support businesses beyond capital injections, Investissement Québec offers consulting services, including guidance on technological transformation, workforce planning and international expansion. It administers government programs and tax credit schemes designed to foster research, development and market diversification. By combining direct financing with strategic advice, the corporation adapts its approach to the specific needs of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as larger Quebec firms seeking productivity gains and market access at home and abroad.

Investissement Québec places particular emphasis on clean technology and the green economy. It has entered partnerships such as ArcTern Ventures Fund II to back renewable energy, waste-to-value processes and advanced battery materials. Direct investments include CA$250 million in Nemaska Lithium in 2023 to develop an integrated mine-to-plant lithium hydroxide project and CA$18 million in Nano One in 2024 for a pilot facility producing low-carbon cathode materials. Through the CA$4.5 billion Grand V program and participation in MKB Partners Fund III, it extends financing to sustainable ventures, and it joined the Quebec Cleantech Investment Challenge with HSBC to accelerate early-stage climate solutions.
