Company Overview

Talga Group is an Australian materials technology company specializing in battery anode and advanced materials production. Based in West Perth, the company focuses on developing sustainable solutions for the energy sector, particularly in battery materials for electric vehicles and consumer products. Through its vertically integrated approach, Talga controls the entire supply chain from mining high-grade natural graphite to producing finished anode materials. The company operates production facilities in northern Sweden, utilizing some of the world’s highest-grade graphite resources and renewable energy sources to minimize environmental impact. This strategic positioning enables Talga to provide clean, ethical, and secure resources while supporting global sustainability initiatives.

Battery Technology

Talga’s core battery technology centers on its Talnode® series of advanced anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. The flagship Talnode®-C is a specially engineered graphite anode offering enhanced charging capabilities and low-temperature performance. Talnode®-Si is a silicon-graphite composite combining graphite, graphene and metallurgical-grade silicon for high energy density. The company also produces conductive additives for cathodes. Through its Battery Centre of Excellence in Cambridge, United Kingdom, Talga is advancing next-generation silicon and solid-state anodes and participates in environmental initiatives such as NoVOC and LIFE GRAPHiREC to reduce impacts and improve battery recycling.

Products

Talnode®-C: high-purity graphite anode material with improved charge rates and low-temperature operation; Talnode®-Si: silicon-graphite composite anode for increased energy capacity; conductive additives for cathode performance enhancement.

Recent Projects

As of 2025, Talga received government approval for a detailed graphite mine development plan. It partnered with FREYR to explore applications of graphite and silicon anode materials in sustainable battery cells. Expansion plans include scaling anode production to 104,000 tonnes annually by 2026, supported by an EU Innovation Fund grant for the Luleå Anode Refinery.

Investors

Major investors include Mark Thompson (3.0%), Lak Holdings Pty Ltd. (1.4%), and Yandal Investments Pty Ltd. (1.3%). The company also secured a fully underwritten A$25M placement to fund operations and expansion.
