XALT Energy’s core technology is centered on advanced lithium-ion cells, especially those using Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) cathodes and graphite anodes, designed for high performance, durability, and scalability in heavy-duty transport and industrial applications. The cells are made in pouch format with large surface areas for improved heat dissipation and thermal management.
XALT Energy develops and manufactures lithium-ion batteries, including cells, modules, and complete systems. Its portfolio features proprietary chemistries such as lithium titanium oxide (LTO) and nickel manganese cobalt (NMC). Key products include large-format lithium-ion cells, the XPAND XMOD module, XPAND Modular Pack (XMP) with direct liquid cooling, and the XLP Pack—low-profile, high-energy-density batteries designed for commercial vehicles. XALT’s modular battery systems are used across commercial transportation, marine, and stationary energy storage applications, offering durable and easily integrated energy solutions.
In 2024, partnered with Freudenberg e-Power Systems to expand its Midland manufacturing facility and deploy next-generation battery technology focused on enhanced performance and efficiency for heavy-duty transportation and marine sectors.
Freudenberg acquired a 31.0% stake in 2018, secured majority ownership in 2019, and became sole owner in 2023 by purchasing the remaining 49.9% from MBP Investors (a Townsend Ventures affiliate).
