Hyundai MOBIS, established in 1977 as Hyundai Precision & Industries Corporation, is a leading automotive parts manufacturer based in South Korea. The company, which adopted its current name in 2000, serves as the primary parts and service provider for Hyundai Motor Company, Genesis Motors, and Kia Motors. As the world’s sixth-largest automotive supplier, Hyundai MOBIS specializes in producing essential components including chassis modules, safety systems, and electrification components. The company’s global operations span across 90 facilities in multiple countries, enabling efficient production and distribution of automotive parts worldwide.

Battery Technology

Hyundai MOBIS has developed significant innovations in battery thermal management, particularly for electric vehicles. Their Pulsating Heat Pipe (PHP) technology represents a substantial advancement in battery cooling systems. This aluminum alloy-based solution achieves ten times greater heat transfer efficiency compared to standard aluminum materials, addressing crucial challenges in battery temperature regulation during ultra-fast charging.

The manufacturing process implements a streamlined press technique, allowing for large-scale production while maintaining cost efficiency. The ultra-thin design (0.8 mm) makes it particularly suitable for automotive applications. The company’s battery systems include advanced power conversion systems and sophisticated management controls, supporting the increasing demand for electric vehicle components.

Hyundai MOBIS also focuses on developing complete battery pack solutions, incorporating safety features and monitoring systems. These innovations support extended battery life and improved charging capabilities, essential factors in electric vehicle performance and adoption.

Recent Projects

At CES 2025, Hyundai MOBIS unveiled several advanced technologies, including a Holographic Windshield Display developed in collaboration with ZEISS. The project, completed its pre-development phase in early 2024, aims for market introduction by 2027. Additionally, the company formed a strategic partnership with Qualcomm to develop next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, combining Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC with MOBIS’s software platform.

Investors

The company’s primary shareholders include Kia Corporation (17.54%), Mong-Koo Chung (7.24%), and Hyundai Steel Co., Ltd. (5.88%). Hyundai MOBIS maintains approximately 3.92% of its own shares, while Hyundai GLOVIS Co., Ltd. holds 0.70%. Various other investors control the remaining 69.34% of shares.
