Rongke Power, established in Dalian, China, in 2008, is a global provider of vanadium flow battery (VFB) technology and advanced energy storage solutions. The company focuses on long-duration, utility-scale energy storage, with over 3 GWh of deployed systems worldwide. Rongke Power holds more than 450 patented technologies in energy storage innovation.
Rongke Power’s VFBs use water-based vanadium electrolytes, offering safety by eliminating risks like thermal runaway. Their batteries maintain 100% capacity over 25 years. The company supports net-zero carbon targets and renewable energy integration globally. Rongke Power provides solutions that support grid resilience, decarbonization, and stable renewable energy delivery.
Battery Technology
Rongke Power specializes in two primary battery chemistries: Vanadium Flow Batteries (VFBs) and Iron-Vanadium Flow Batteries (Fe/V FFBs). VFBs utilize water-based vanadium electrolytes, which are inherently safe and eliminate the potential for thermal runaway. These batteries are designed for scalability and durability, offering long cycle lives with minimal capacity degradation over 25 years. They are also recyclable, contributing to a reduced environmental footprint.
The Iron-Vanadium Flow Batteries (Fe/V FFBs), developed in partnership with Saudi Aramco, are designed for industrial applications, particularly in harsh environmental conditions. This chemistry uses less vanadium than traditional VFBs, which can impact cost efficiency. A notable feature of Fe/V FFBs is their operational capability in extreme temperatures, ranging from -8°C to +60°C, without requiring active thermal management. This makes them suitable for remote and challenging environments where maintaining stable temperatures for battery systems can be difficult. Rongke Power holds over 450 patents related to flow battery components, system reliability, and integration, reflecting ongoing innovation in large-scale, long-duration energy storage.
Recent Projects
In May 2025, Rongke Power finalized the GWh-scale grid-connected VFB station in Xinjiang, China, which supports grid stability and renewable energy integration. Following this, in June 2025, the world’s first commercial Iron-Vanadium flow battery system for solar-assisted industrial backup was deployed in Saudi Arabia with Aramco. Additionally, in February 2025, a significant facility expansion in Dalian, China, boosted manufacturing capacity for electrolytes and bipolar plates. These projects contribute to the company’s exceeding 3 GWh of global VFB deployments.
Investors
Rongke Power has secured funding from several institutional investors. These include Jinding Capital, Legend Capital, China Zhongji Investment, Desheng Group, Roton Capital, Eastern Bell Capital, JT Group, and Rongtuo Capital Management. In April 2023, the company completed a Series B funding round, raising over CNY 1 billion (approximately $150 million), with Eastern Bell Capital and JT Group leading the investment.
