Technology Minerals plc is a UK company established in June 2021, focusing on creating a sustainable circular economy for battery metals. Listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: TM1), the company’s business model integrates key aspects of the battery metals lifecycle, from securing raw materials through exploration and mining to recycling end-of-life lithium-ion batteries. This approach addresses the increasing demand for critical battery metals crucial for electric vehicles and other energy storage applications, while also tackling the environmental challenge of battery waste. Technology Minerals aims to provide a localized solution for managing battery materials within the United Kingdom and support the broader shift towards electrification.
Battery Technology
Technology Minerals operates within the lithium-ion battery technology ecosystem by focusing on the supply of essential raw materials and the recycling of spent batteries. The company’s exploration and mining activities target minerals fundamental to Li-ion battery cathodes, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese. These are secured from geographically diversified assets across Ireland, Spain, the USA, and Cameroon.
Downstream, through its 48% ownership of Recyclus Group Ltd, Technology Minerals provides industrial-scale recycling services for Li-ion batteries. Their facility in Wolverhampton, England, is equipped to handle various types of batteries, from electric vehicle packs, including fire-damaged ones, to those from consumer electronics and industrial equipment. The recycling process involves safely dismantling batteries and extracting valuable materials such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel, producing “black mass” which can be reintroduced into the manufacturing of new batteries. The company also explores methods for repurposing batteries for “second-life” applications, extending their functional lifespan before final recycling.
Recent Projects
Over the past year, Technology Minerals has achieved several commercial milestones. In April 2025, the company secured its largest revenue-generating contract to date, a 12-month agreement potentially worth up to £2 million, from a global industrial group for battery processing at the Recyclus facility. Other contracts include recycling waste e-mobility batteries for Halfords, processing batteries for Ocado, and handling fire-damaged EV batteries for automotive manufacturers. Deliveries under a black mass offtake agreement with commodity company Glencore commenced in March 2025. The company also supplied lithium-ion battery storage units to the UK Ministry of Defence.
Investors
Technology Minerals has a shareholder base that includes both individual and institutional investors. Notable shareholders include Century Cobalt Corp., which held a significant stake at the time of the company’s admission to the stock market. Other investors at admission included United Capital Investments Ltd, Kevin and Susan Newman, Kafina Investments, LLC, The Berkshire Priory Ltd, and Elias Pungong. More recently, Arena Investors, LP, a New York-based institutional investor, has also become a significant shareholder.
