Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Zinfra, an Australian infrastructure service provider, to jointly deliver, operate and maintain large-scale battery energy storage systems across Australia. Under the agreement, CATL will contribute its advanced energy storage technology, while Zinfra will leverage its local engineering, operations and maintenance expertise to support project deployment and ongoing services.

Zinfra, known for its engineering and utility infrastructure work in the power and gas sectors, manages an annual project portfolio exceeding A$1.2 billion. The collaboration will follow an asset-light, low-risk business model, enabling CATL to expand its energy storage footprint without direct ownership of all assets. This approach aligns with CATL’s global strategy to offer integrated “product plus service” solutions and to support the energy transition in overseas markets.

In 2025, CATL led global energy storage battery shipments for the fifth consecutive year, holding a 30.4 percent market share, according to SNE Research. The company reported 62.4 billion yuan in energy storage revenue that year and has deployed approximately 2,300 large-scale storage projects worldwide. The partnership with Zinfra represents a step toward reinforcing CATL’s operational capabilities and local support networks for its international storage projects.

CATL has also recently strengthened its global production capacity through a significant capital raise in Hong Kong, securing roughly HK$39.2 billion from a share placement. Earlier this month, the company announced a three-year, 60 GWh supply agreement for sodium-ion batteries with a Chinese energy storage system provider, marking the largest order of its kind to date.

Financially, CATL’s total operating revenue for 2025 reached 423.7 billion yuan, with net income rising 42 percent to 72.2 billion yuan. In the first quarter of the current year, net income totaled 20.74 billion yuan, a 48.5 percent increase from the prior year. These results underscore the strong overseas demand and technological advancements driving CATL’s growth in the energy storage sector.
