Company Overview

Urbix Inc. was founded in 2014 in Mesa, Arizona. It is a leading innovator in environmentally sustainable graphite purification technology and energy storage solutions, operating facilities in Mesa, Arizona and Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The company develops clean, efficient methods for processing graphite into high-quality battery-grade materials, strengthening the domestic supply chain for electric vehicle graphite while minimizing environmental impact.

Battery Technology

Urbix’s proprietary low-temperature, non-oxidative purification technique eliminates hydrofluoric acid, reducing energy consumption while achieving exceptional purity. The process yields graphene-grade graphite with extended cycle life and higher energy density and includes Coated Spherical Purified Graphite (CSPG) products refined at pilot-scale and electrochemical laboratory facilities.

Products

Coated Spherical Purified Graphite (CSPG) commercial battery anode material with high purity, extended cycle life, higher energy density, and reduced costs. Additional pipeline battery component products under continuous research and development.

Recent Projects

Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy for negotiations on up to $125 million funding to construct a commercial-scale graphite processing facility in Muscle Shoals, Alabama producing 10,000 tons of CSPG annually, creating 200 full-time and 300 construction jobs with a workforce development community benefits plan.

Investors

Urbix Inc. raised $127.8M from Appian Capital Advisory LLP (strategic investment and joint development agreement), Powerhouse Ventures, Monterrey Digital Hub, and support from the U.S. Department of Energy Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
