ABS develops two main lithium-ion battery product lines: the ALLIANCE Intelligent Battery Series™ for low-voltage applications (24V and 48V configurations) and the PROLIANCE Intelligent Battery Series™ for high-voltage applications (350V to 800V), introduced in 2022. Their technology includes advanced thermal management, sophisticated battery management systems (BMS) with parallel module addition and multiple communication protocols (CAN-Open, SAE J1939). Manufacturing processes use laser and wire bonding cell-to-cell joining technologies, enabling various battery configurations on the same assembly line. Annual production capacity is 8GWh of cells, 200,000 modules, and 50,000 complete battery packs.
The ALLIANCE Intelligent Battery Series™ offers 24V and 48V battery systems designed for light electric vehicles and industrial equipment. The PROLIANCE Intelligent Battery Series™, introduced in 2022, provides scalable 350V to 800V battery systems targeted at commercial vehicles and heavy-duty applications.
In 2023, ABS was acquired by Komatsu America Corp., enhancing Komatsu’s capabilities in battery-powered construction and mining equipment. Initial projects focus on power solutions for mining operations in North and South America, with intentions to expand globally into construction equipment markets, leveraging ABS’s battery technology and Komatsu’s manufacturing expertise.
KCK Group provided initial funding of $50M in 2019, enabling ABS to establish operations and product development. In late 2023, ABS was acquired by Komatsu through its U.S. subsidiary, marking a new phase for the company.
