Automotive Cells Company (ACC) announced on October 13, 2026, that it will present its 5 millionth lithium-ion cell produced at its Billy-Berclau/Douvrin Gigafactory during the 2026 Paris Motor Show. According to ACC, its cell production to date represents nearly 40,000 vehicles already fitted with the company’s batteries. An ACC battery will also be displayed in a cutaway vehicle provided by Stellantis.

The first production block at the factory in France’s Hauts-de-France region is operating on a 5×8 shift pattern, seven days a week. ACC said scrap rates are steadily approaching target levels and that the facility is supplying Stellantis in accordance with agreed production plans.

A second production block with 12.9 GWh of capacity is scheduled to begin production in 2027. Its output is intended to supply batteries for Mercedes electric vehicles. ACC did not provide further details about the planned production ramp-up.

The company also called for European industrial policy to support demand for batteries manufactured within the region. ACC said an Industrial Accelerator Act should help European battery production compete under more balanced market conditions. CEO Allan Swan, who has held the position since May 2026, said the production milestone demonstrates that Europe can develop and industrialize battery technologies at scale while noting that competitiveness remains a challenge.

ACC said it will continue developing next-generation products focused on battery performance, driving range and faster charging. The company manufactures battery cells and modules for electric vehicles using nickel-manganese-cobalt lithium-ion chemistry.

Founded in 2020, ACC is backed by Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz and Saft, a TotalEnergies subsidiary. The company employs 2,500 people across sites in France, including an R&D center and pilot plant in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the Gigafactory in Hauts-de-France.
