BYD to Unveil 1.5MW Charger, Blade 2.0 & God’s Eye 5.0
BYD’s March 5 reveal will feature its new Flash Charging 2.0 station delivering up to 1,500 kW (2,000 kW dual-gun), a second-generation Blade Battery at 190–210 Wh/kg, the upgraded DM 6.0 hybrid system, and the God’s Eye 5.0 ADAS.

Electric vehicle and battery manufacturer BYD is set to unveil a suite of next-generation technologies at a March 5 event, sources suggest. Highlights include a megawatt flash charging 2.0 system, a second-generation Blade Battery, an upgraded DM 6.0 hybrid powertrain, and the God’s Eye 5.0 driver assistance platform.

The new charging station features a T-shaped housing finished in cyan, with two suspended cables on sliding rails. Nameplate data indicate it operates at up to 1,000 volts and 1,500 amps, delivering 1,500 kilowatts of peak power. With a dual-gun configuration, total output could exceed 2,000 kilowatts. BYD plans to expand its fast-charging network to more than 4,000 stations in 2026 and collaborate with partners including Xiaoju Charging to build a three-tier network of 15,000 sites. The second-generation system offers roughly 50% more power than BYD’s first-generation 1,000-kW chargers and achieves peak outputs near 1,360 kW, enabling a “1 second, 2 kilometers” charge rate—equivalent to about 400 km of range in five minutes.

The Blade Battery 2.0 is expected to reach energy densities of 190–210 Wh/kg, compared with 140–150 Wh/kg today. A short-blade format targets 160 Wh/kg at 16C discharge and 8C charge rates, while a long-blade variant may hit 210 Wh/kg with 8C discharge and 3C charge. BYD aims to cut long-blade costs by 15% and ensure over 3,000 charge cycles, corresponding to about 1.2 million kilometers of vehicle life. Premium models using this battery could achieve up to 1,000 km of CLTC range.

BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i plug-in hybrid system is rumored to consume just 2.9 L/100 km and deliver nearly 2,000 km of combined range, though official specs remain unconfirmed. God’s Eye 5.0 will introduce reinforcement learning and closed-loop end-to-end control; over 2.3 million vehicles currently collect more than 160 million kilometers of data daily using earlier versions.

Separately, BYD’s Song Ultra model is reportedly in full production ahead of a March market launch. Priced around 160,000–180,000 yuan (approximately $23,400–$26,300), the vehicle rides on BYD’s new integrated e-platform with a 2,840 mm wheelbase. Test-vehicle photos have also shown a “flash charging” emblem, highlighting BYD’s push for ultra-fast charging across its lineup.

The technology launch comes as BYD seeks to reverse a recent downturn in new energy vehicle sales—down 5.25% year-over-year in November 2025. Analysts forecast a 6% rebound to 4.9 million units in 2026, driven largely by advancements in charging infrastructure and high-density battery technology.
