In July 2026, leading Chinese automakers reported strong global deliveries of new energy vehicles (NEVs), with BYD maintaining its position at the top. The company sold 411,072 passenger cars last month, recording its third consecutive month of year-over-year growth. BYD’s overseas shipments reached nearly 180,000 units, also a new high. Its Fang Cheng Bao sub-brand achieved 41,213 deliveries—a 190.6% increase compared to July 2025—while Denza sales rose 68.8% to 19,196 vehicles.
Second and third place on the overall NEV sales list were occupied by SAIC and Geely, respectively. Among emerging challengers, Leapmotor achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 100,000 units in monthly sales for the first time. The brand delivered 101,267 vehicles in July, representing a 102% increase from the same month a year ago. Leapmotor’s total NEV sales also outpaced those of Changan, which reported 96,500 NEV deliveries during July. Leapmotor’s A10 model (badged B03X in international markets), introduced in March, contributed 28,593 units—nearly 30% of the company’s monthly volume.
Geely’s Galaxy brand remained the top seller within the Geely portfolio, delivering 107,797 units in July, narrowly edging out Leapmotor’s total. Li Auto experienced a slight year-on-year decline, selling 30,468 vehicles—down 0.9% from July 2025. Nio reported robust growth, delivering 35,934 cars, up 71% year over year. Within its lineup, the core Nio brand accounted for 20,008 units, Onvo delivered 10,155 units (a 69.9% increase), and the Firefly brand recorded 5,771 deliveries, a 143.9% rise.
New entrants and partnerships also made their mark. Xiaomi sold just over 30,000 vehicles in July, while Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) delivered 45,046 units. Among HIMA partners, Luxeed—a joint venture between Chery and Huawei—achieved 10,709 deliveries, up 227.7% year over year. In the first half of 2026, Luxeed’s strongest month was June, with 5,541 units sold.
