Dragonfly Energy Holdings Corp. has received a notice of allowance from the European Patent Office for its patent application entitled “Systems and Methods for Dry Powder Coating Layers of an Electrochemical Cell.” The allowance covers critical aspects of the company’s proprietary dry electrode manufacturing platform, which employs a solvent-free, dry powder method to form key layers—electrode, separator and solid-state electrolyte—within an electrochemical cell.

This development strengthens Dragonfly Energy’s global intellectual property position in scalable, solvent-free battery production and all-solid-state battery development. The European allowance extends protection for technology that the company considers central to its long-term cell manufacturing strategy and supports anticipated commercialization opportunities in key markets across Europe.

In a statement, CEO Dr. Denis Phares noted that securing patent rights in Europe complements Dragonfly Energy’s broader IP portfolio and underscores its commitment to advancing next-generation battery technologies. He added that the company views the allowed patent as a strategic asset for its all-solid-state battery roadmap and future market expansion.

Dragonfly Energy’s dry electrode platform is designed to be chemistry-agnostic, enabling compatibility with various lithium-ion formulations and solid-state electrolytes. By eliminating liquid solvents, the process aims to reduce manufacturing complexity, lower environmental impact, and improve safety through the development of nonflammable battery cells. These features align with industry demand for sustainable, high-performance energy storage solutions.

Through its Battle Born Batteries® brand, Dragonfly Energy offers a range of lithium battery products—including cell manufacturing, battery pack assembly and system integration—to both original equipment manufacturers and retail customers. The company has deployed hundreds of thousands of battery packs in applications spanning residential energy storage, electric vehicles and consumer electronics.

As Dragonfly Energy advances its all-solid-state battery development, the European patent allowance represents a key milestone in protecting its core manufacturing innovations and positioning the company for future growth in global energy storage markets.
