Inpow Battery Technology, the battery industrialization arm of GAC Group, officially started production at its new manufacturing facility in Thailand on October 29. The first locally produced power battery pack rolled off the line as part of the launch. The expansion supports Inpow’s strategy to strengthen the new energy vehicle supply chain in Southeast Asia and bring its manufacturing capabilities to international markets.
On October 15, Inpow said its cumulative global production had reached 300,000 battery packs. The packs are used across a range of GAC Aion models, including the i60, N60, and UT.
According to Inpow, the company represents a total investment of 10.9 billion yuan ($1.63 billion). It conducts independent research, development, and production covering power batteries and energy storage batteries. Its research and development team comprises more than 800 people, supported by cumulative investment exceeding 2 billion yuan ($300 million). The company has secured more than 700 patents.
