NEO Battery Materials Ltd. announced a series of commercial and strategic developments in its drone and defense battery business on August 27, 2026, including its first direct supply order from a division of the Republic of Korea Army, a battery management system development order tied to a government procurement program, and additional orders from international drone value chain companies.
The company said it received a direct purchase order for military-grade drone battery packs from a Republic of Korea Army division for field validation and use. NEO described the order as its first direct agreement with the army, bypassing the more common route of supplying through a drone manufacturer or system integrator. The company said the order followed ongoing engagement with the Korean defense and military ecosystem and a better understanding of the qualification standards and operational requirements involved.
NEO also said it expanded its relationship with Assetta Inc., a strategic defense collaborator, by securing a development order for battery management systems supporting drone platforms under a government procurement program. The work includes state-of-charge indication, cell voltage monitoring and balancing, communications system integration, and additional undisclosed functions. If development is successful, NEO said the BMS-integrated battery packs are intended for long-term use in the procurement program and on Assetta’s drone platforms.
In addition, the company reported continued order activity for development and validation work from customers across the drone supply chain. These include a major U.S. drone components manufacturer, one of South Korea’s oldest and leading unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturers, one of Japan’s largest standalone drone companies by revenue, and several Korean small and medium-sized enterprises producing strike and ISR drones for defense and industrial applications.
NEO said the orders reflect growing demand for its cell-to-pack-to-BMS offering and cited customer interest in performance optimization and supply chains located outside adversarial jurisdictions.
