NEO Battery Materials Ltd. has secured a 3.2-acre expansion site adjacent to its existing electrode manufacturing facility in South Korea. The property includes six industrial buildings on 2.5 acres, with an additional 0.8 acres reserved for future growth. This development will support the company’s Battery Innovation Platform, which is designed to deliver end-to-end battery solutions for drones, robotics, AI-enabled electronics, energy storage systems, and electric vehicles.

Plans call for installing manufacturing lines for cylindrical and prismatic cells, targeting an annual output of 20 megawatt-hours (MWh). Combined with the pouch-format production at the first facility, NEO will be equipped to produce all three major battery formats. One building at the new site will be dedicated to scaling up silicon anode material production to 20 tons per year. The enhanced silicon will be integrated into electrode lines at the original facility before cell assembly at the expansion site.

Equipment orders have been placed for battery cell assembly and formation processes, as well as silicon synthesis systems. NEO is finalizing a lease agreement for the electrode manufacturing plant, and site due diligence and facility preparations are in progress. Further updates on deposit payments and commissioning schedules will be provided as milestones are reached.

An expanded research and development team will focus on custom-designing battery architectures, optimizing manufacturing yields, and advancing high-performance battery technologies. By consolidating material synthesis, electrode production, and cell assembly within a single industrial cluster, NEO aims to reduce reliance on external suppliers, accelerate product development timelines, and strengthen quality control across the battery value chain.

This vertical integration strategy is intended to establish NEO as a one-stop battery foundry for partners in Western and North American markets, offering a full suite of silicon-enhanced battery products and manufacturing services.
