Samsung SDI has been recognized with the Best of Innovation award in the Construction & Industrial Tech category of the CES 2026 Innovation Awards, organized by the Consumer Technology Association. This marks the company’s second top honor at CES in two years, following four Innovation Awards in 2025. The accolade highlights Samsung SDI’s continued leadership in high-power battery technology and its impact on industrial applications.
The award-winning product, the SDI 25U-Power, is an 18650 high-performance cylindrical battery measuring 18 mm in diameter and 65 mm in height. It delivers twice the power output of conventional cells at half the weight, making it particularly well-suited for power tools. The design incorporates tabless technology—a first for an 18650 cell—to reduce internal resistance and manage heat generation during charging, resulting in high power output, fast charging capability, and extended cycle life.
Key materials include a high-nickel NCA (nickel–cobalt–aluminum) cathode and Samsung SDI’s proprietary Silicon Carbon Nanocomposite (SCN) anode. A thin electrode plate coating further minimizes resistance, enabling powerful performance within a compact form factor.
In addition to the SDI 25U-Power, Samsung SDI’s No TP (No Thermal Propagation) safety technology received an Honoree distinction in the Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility category. This technology isolates cells experiencing thermal events, preventing fire from spreading to adjacent cells. By leveraging a thermal propagation prediction program, optimized inter-cell safety materials, and designated gas venting pathways, No TP maximizes overall battery safety. Previously recognized at The Smarter E Europe 2025 energy exhibition, No TP has reaffirmed its technological excellence with this latest award.
