Stellantis and Dongfeng Motor Group have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to form a European joint venture for distribution, manufacturing, procurement, and R&D of Voyah New Energy Vehicles in Europe. The proposed venture will be headquartered in Europe and led by Stellantis, with a 51/49 stake split in favor of Stellantis. The initial focus is on sales and distribution of Voyah’s high-end NEV lineup, complemented by joint procurement and engineering research. Reports indicate the partners are assessing local production of Voyah models at Stellantis’ Rennes, France facility. The MOU remains non-binding, and the partners intend to finalize definitive agreements later this year, subject to due diligence and regulatory approvals.
Voyah, Dongfeng’s premium NEV brand, operates in over 40 markets with more than 240 sales outlets. In April 2026, Voyah launched its ‘Three Major Actions’ global strategy: ‘Deepening in Europe, Layout in the Middle East, and Entering Right-Hand Drive (RHD) Markets’, with a right-hand-drive version of the Voyah Dream planned for launch later this year. The joint venture will also oversee end-to-end operations, from local assembly to after-sales service in key European markets, aiming to provide enhanced customer support and responsiveness. It will coordinate regional procurement of critical components to improve supply chain resilience and support joint research in battery systems, software integration, and lightweight materials.
“The plan announced today elevates the recently strengthened partnership between Stellantis and Dongfeng to a new level of international cooperation, which will benefit customers worldwide,” said Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis. “This collaboration leverages Stellantis’ global footprint and Dongfeng’s deep connection to China’s advanced NEV ecosystem to offer customers more competitive product and pricing options.”
Yang Qing, Chairman of Dongfeng, stated: “Dongfeng will further consolidate and expand its strategic cooperation with Stellantis. Through the synergy of technology, branding, and global markets, we aim to drive greater efficiency in our joint venture, accelerating Dongfeng’s global layout while supporting Stellantis’ global strategic shift and its presence in China.”
This joint venture announcement follows a May 15 agreement to bolster their existing China partnership, Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobile (DPCA). From 2027, the DPCA plant in Wuhan will produce new NEV models for Peugeot and Jeep for international export. This effort underlines both groups’ commitment to electrification and their shared goal of scaling NEV production capacity in response to growing global demand.
In terms of performance, Voyah has consistently achieved monthly sales above 10,000 units over the past year, except in February due to Lunar New Year impacts.
