Geely Develops 1,000V EV Architecture for Faster Charging
Geely says it is building a 1,000V architecture to cut EV charging below 5.5 minutes for 10% to 80% and challenge BYD. It is also rolling out 800V systems, while tests on a Lynk & Co 10 sedan showed rapid charging at Zeekr stations.

Geely Holding Group said it is developing a 1,000V high-voltage architecture aimed at pushing charging times beyond a 5.5-minute 10% to 80% charge. The move is intended to strengthen the Hangzhou-based automaker’s position in the fast-charging race and compete more directly with BYD’s flash charging technology.

The company also said it is actively integrating 800V high-voltage systems into its vehicles to improve charging speed, driving range, and overall efficiency. In Geely’s description, vehicles built around this architecture include 800V components across the battery pack, electric motors, power controllers, chargers, wiring, and even the vehicle body.

The announcement follows widespread online discussion about the Lynk & Co 10 sedan, which reportedly charged from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes and 42 seconds and from 10% to 80% in 5 minutes and 32 seconds in earlier tests. Although the brand’s public relations team said the model used a 900V architecture, Geely later clarified that this was not accurate. According to the company, the sedan’s 95 kWh battery has a rated voltage of 772.8V, placing it within a standard 800V system.

Geely said it is also developing higher-voltage powertrain systems. In March 2026, the company reported that it had built more than 2,100 Zeekr-branded single-gun chargers with a peak output of 1,500 kW. Geely added that its current vehicles cannot yet charge at full power on those stations, suggesting the infrastructure has been prepared for future platforms.

During charging tests, the Lynk & Co 10 reached a peak power of 1,100 kW at a Zeekr-branded station. At a BYD flash charging station, peak charging power for the same vehicle reached 430 kW. Geely indicated that its upcoming 1,000V system could help its vehicles take greater advantage of 1,500 kW charging hardware and move electric-vehicle refueling times closer to those of gasoline cars.
