Stryten Energy and C&D Technologies, Inc./Trojan Battery Company have signed a definitive agreement under which Stryten Energy will acquire C&D Trojan. The transaction, expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, brings together two complementary organizations focused on high-performance energy storage solutions. Upon completion, Mike Judd will continue to lead the combined company as CEO and president.
The combined entity will operate 15 manufacturing and component facilities across the United States, supported by approximately 3,700 employees. This expanded domestic footprint is designed to strengthen the company’s vertically integrated supply chain and support American energy independence and resilience. Stryten also plans to increase its Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery capacity to meet growing demand for advanced lead batteries used in hybrid and start-stop vehicle technologies, data center backup, and telecommunications.
Globally, the merged organization will have operations in Mexico and China, with offices across Europe and Asia, enhancing its ability to serve customers worldwide. The expanded product portfolio will include lead- and lithium-based batteries as well as energy management software and intelligent chargers.
The company will offer a comprehensive energy storage portfolio across key markets: transportation (automotive, heavy-duty, marine, RV, lawn & garden, and low-speed electric vehicles), essential power (AI/data centers, uninterruptible power supplies, telecom, utilities, nuclear, and grid infrastructure), industrial applications (material handling, mining, railway, floor care, aerial work platforms), and military and government systems (tactical vehicles, missile defense, submarines, and mission-critical infrastructure).
“Stryten and C&D Trojan share a strong commitment to innovation and manufacturing excellence,” said Judd. “This acquisition will accelerate our product development, expand our manufacturing footprint, and enhance our ability to meet evolving energy storage needs.” Rick Heller, president and CEO of C&D Trojan, added that the transaction broadens the solutions portfolio and creates a stronger foundation for supporting customers’ energy requirements.
