🔋 Hyundai SK Battery JV Begins Production in Georgia

Hyundai SK Battery Manufacturing America has begun mass producing cells at its Bartow County, Georgia plant and is supplying cells to Hyundai’s Savannah EV facility. The JV targets 35 GWh of annual capacity. Read more

🔋 CATL and BYD Lead China’s Power Battery Installations in June

China’s domestic power battery installations reached 76.5 GWh in June 2026, up 31.5% year-on-year and 6.4% from May. LFP held 83.3% share, with CATL at 42.7% and BYD at 18.5%. Read more

🔋 Geely and Ford to Form JV for Multi-Energy Vehicles in Valencia

🔋 EV Prices in Germany Fell 18% in Real Terms from 2020 to 2025

A study found real EV purchase prices in Germany declined about 18% from 2020 to 2025 after adjusting for attributes. It attributes the shift to model mix changes and battery costs dropping over 35%, alongside improved range and choice. Read more

🔋 BYD Signs 11.275 GWh Storage Deal for Masdar’s Abu Dhabi Project

BYD’s energy storage arm signed an 11.275 GWh agreement with Masdar for Abu Dhabi’s Round The Clock project, described as a gigawatt-scale 24/7 solar-plus-storage installation. BYD will supply Haohan Blade Battery and the GC Master EMS. Read more

🔋 Beijing Energy Group Completes Year-Long Underground Solid-State Trial

Beijing Energy Group completed a one-year underground field trial of a stationary solid-state battery in a city heating network. The system operated across 40–85°C and 95% humidity over a 1.1 km pipeline, earning IP68 certification and passing safety tests. Read more

Cylib acquired a disassembly and mechanical processing plant in Wernberg-Köblitz, Bavaria, designed to handle up to 10,000 metric tons of end-of-life EV batteries per year. Operations are set to start in Q4 2026, supplying black mass to its Dormagen refinery. Read more

🔋 China to Impose Consumption Tax on Several Battery Types

China’s finance, customs, and taxation authorities will impose a 2% consumption tax on lithium-ion, lithium primary, nickel-metal hydride, and vanadium flow batteries from September 2026. The tax is set to rise to 4% in 2027, ending an 11-year exemption. Read more

CATL reported H1 2026 net profit of 43.28 billion yuan, up 41.98%, alongside revenue of 276.92 billion yuan. The company cited a 46.02% rise in power battery revenue and an 87.54% increase in energy storage sales. Read more

🔋 China’s Power Battery Installations and Exports Rise in June

China’s power battery installations reached 76.5 GWh in June, up 31.5% year-on-year and 6.4% month-on-month, with LFP at 83.3% share. Exports rose 48.7% to 36.2 GWh, and H1 cumulative installs totaled 335.6 GWh. Read more
