CleanTech Lithium PLC specializes in sustainable lithium production to support the global energy transition. The company utilizes innovative Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology, powered by renewable energy sources, to produce battery-grade lithium for electric vehicle (EV) and battery manufacturing markets. Based in Jersey with operations in Chile, CleanTech Lithium controls multiple licenses within the “Lithium Triangle,” home to the world’s largest lithium reserves. Their flagship Laguna Verde project shows substantial potential with an estimated resource of 1.8 million tonnes, supporting multi-decade production capabilities. The company maintains strict environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, ensuring minimal environmental impact while meeting the growing global demand for lithium.

Battery Technology

CleanTech Lithium’s DLE technology represents a significant advancement in lithium extraction methods. This process achieves up to 88% lithium recovery rates while maintaining superior selectivity in removing impurities. The technology operates without traditional evaporation ponds, substantially reducing water consumption and environmental impact. The company has successfully produced lithium carbonate with 99.78% purity, meeting strict specifications for EV battery manufacturing.

The production process integrates renewable energy sources throughout operations, minimizing carbon emissions. This approach creates a sustainable supply chain for battery manufacturers and automakers seeking environmentally responsible lithium sources. The company’s extraction method also preserves local water resources, addressing a critical concern in traditional lithium mining operations. Combined with advanced processing techniques, this technology enables CleanTech Lithium to produce consistent, high-quality battery-grade lithium while maintaining environmental stewardship.

Recent Projects

In early 2024, CleanTech Lithium appointed Tony Esplin as CEO designate, bringing valuable experience from projects like Newmont’s Suriname Merian mine. The company is preparing to submit its special lithium operating contract (CEOL) for the Laguna Verde project to Chilean authorities in January 2025. Additionally, CleanTech Lithium initiated a drilling program to update JORC resource estimates and develop maiden reserve calculations for the Laguna Verde project, which aims to produce 20,000 mt/year of battery-grade lithium carbonate over 30 years.

Investors

Regal Funds Management holds approximately 15% of CleanTech Lithium’s shares, representing a significant institutional investment. The company trades on the AIM market in London since March 2022 and plans an ASX listing in Q1 2025, working with Fox Davies Capital Limited and CLSA Australia Pty Ltd as joint lead managers. The upcoming ASX listing aims to raise A$20 million to advance Chilean lithium projects.
