Company Overview

Celtrix GmbH was founded in 2025 as a Fraunhofer ISIT spin-off and is headquartered in Itzehoe, Germany. Founders and leaders include Dr. Raphael Richter, Daniel Astudillo, and Stefan Klebor. The company develops and manufactures custom high-performance battery cells and integrated systems for specialized industrial applications where standard gigafactory cells are unsuitable. Its mission is to deliver reliable, certified battery solutions with short regional supply chains and scalable medium-volume production, serving medical technology, drones, maritime, aerospace and microelectronics. Celtrix plans to transition from prototyping to serial production in 2026.

Battery Technology

Celtrix uses a proprietary flexible medium-scale manufacturing platform that produces custom lithium-ion cells in nonstandard form factors and chemistries. The platform supports low-volume runs (from ~6,000 cells/year), precision electrode processing, and rigorous cell testing to meet safety and reliability requirements. Supporting capabilities include module/pack assembly, integrated Battery Management Systems, and charging interfaces. Specialized technical variants cover sterilizable medical packs, radiation-tolerant aerospace cells, pressure-resistant maritime systems and wafer-level microbatteries. European production provides traceability and shorter supply chains while processes are aligned for certification and mission-critical safety measures.

Products

Celtrix offers custom bare battery cells, assembled modules and complete packs with integrated BMS and charging options. Product lines include sterilizable medical packs, lightweight redundant cells for drones, pressure-resistant maritime systems, radiation-tolerant aerospace batteries and on-chip microbatteries for microelectronics. Designs focus on form-factor flexibility, reliability and regulatory compliance, with delivery options from cells to full systems.
