Nabtesco Technology Ventures is a corporate venture fund created in 2018 by Nabtesco Corporation in partnership with Emerald Technology Ventures. Based in Zurich, Switzerland, it extends Nabtesco’s open innovation approach by engaging with startups around the world. Working with Emerald Technology Ventures provides access to a global network and experience in technology financing. With direct support from Nabtesco’s manufacturing and engineering teams, the fund bridges established industry know-how and emerging business models. This initiative supports Nabtesco’s aim to maintain a leading position in manufacturing technology by identifying new solutions early.
With roughly EUR 75 million under management, the fund supports more than sixteen ventures, covering early to growth rounds in promising sectors. It focuses on robotics, motion control, transportation, manufacturing, motors, sensors, additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. NTV seeks companies building autonomous systems, intelligent automation and advanced connectivity solutions. Recent activity shows a balance between hardware and software, along with efforts to integrate machine intelligence across industrial settings. An investment in embotech, a provider of autonomous driving software for industrial logistics, exemplifies its interest in smarter material handling.
Clean energy and battery technology form a key area of interest. Investments include Colibri Energy, which builds lithium-ion systems for industrial vehicles in settings such as airports; NanoGraf, a battery materials firm with silicon-anode technology aimed at longer-lasting power cells; and Eologix, a wind energy sensor startup that improves turbine performance. Maritime solutions like Sea Machines Robotics and DeepSea Technologies receive support to cut fuel use and emissions at sea. Sensyn Robotics applies drone inspection to renewable energy infrastructure. By backing these ventures, NTV targets reductions in carbon output and advances in electrification.
