Company Overview

Skeleton Technologies is a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced energy storage solutions, specializing in supercapacitors and SuperBattery technology. Founded in 2009 in Estonia, the company has established itself as a significant player in the energy storage industry through its innovative Curved Graphene technology. Its solutions serve automotive, transportation, grid systems, and industrial applications, offering superior energy density and power performance to reduce CO2 emissions and improve energy efficiency. With manufacturing facilities in Germany and Estonia, Skeleton Technologies continues to expand production capacity.

Battery Technology

Skeleton Technologies’ technology portfolio includes SkelCap supercapacitors with high power density, minimal equivalent series resistance and over 1,000,000 charge cycles, and SuperBattery technology that combines capacitor and battery characteristics—charging 100x faster than traditional lithium-ion batteries, lasting 50,000 cycles, and operating without cobalt, copper, nickel or graphite. Their proprietary Curved Graphene manufacturing process enhances energy density and charging capabilities.

Products

SkelCap supercapacitors deliver rapid energy storage and release for applications such as automotive systems, grid stabilization and industrial machinery, boasting high power density, low ESR and over 1,000,000 cycles. SuperBattery delivers fast charging (100x lithium-ion), 50,000-cycle lifespan and safe, cobalt- and metal-free construction for hybrid vehicles and fuel cell systems requiring under 45-minute energy storage.

Recent Projects

In 2024, Skeleton Technologies invested €33.7 million in SuperBattery-based hydrogen technology for transportation, partnered with Tinfos AS to deploy energy storage solutions in Norway, continued construction of the Leipzig SuperFactory with Siemens to become the world’s largest supercapacitor plant, and expanded collaboration with Shell to electrify mining operations.

Investors

Skeleton Technologies has raised over €300M from investors including Marubeni Corporation, Siemens Financial Services, the founders of Adyen, the European Investment Bank, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, FirstFloor Capital, Taavet Hinrikus, and Bengt Wahlqvist.
