CATL leads as global EV battery usage hits 844.2 GWh
Global battery usage grew, with CATL extending its lead while seven Chinese suppliers controlled nearly three-quarters of the market.
Europe grew 29.2%, China 16.9%, Asia excluding China 76.0% and South America 179.9%; North America alone contracted.
LG Energy Solution ranked third with 68.3 GWh, up 0.9%, followed by CALB with 44.4 GWh, up 32.6%, and Gotion High-tech with 41.5 GWh, up 47.1%. Panasonic recorded 29.7 GWh, while EVE Energy reached 29.5 GWh after growth of 53.9%.
SK On was the only top-10 supplier to report a decline, with installations falling 14.5% to 24.9 GWh. Svolt Energy increased installations by 39.3% to 22.0 GWh. REPT BATTERO Energy retained tenth place after installations rose 126.3% to 20.3 GWh, the highest growth rate among the top 10.
The seven Chinese suppliers in the ranking held a combined 73.3% market share, compared with 69.7% a year earlier. Battery installations increased by 29.2% in Europe, 16.9% in China, 76.0% in Asia excluding China and 179.9% in South America. North American installations declined 23.7% to 73.1 GWh. SNE Research said continued weakness in U.S. EV demand was prompting some battery manufacturers to shift EV production lines toward energy storage systems.
