Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) and SERES Group signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement in Chongqing on October 10, 2026, extending their battery partnership and outlining work on manufacturing capacity, charging services and international markets.
Since the launch of AITO, every model in the lineup has used CATL batteries, according to CATL. Cumulative AITO deliveries have exceeded 1.2 million units. Under the new agreement, AITO will continue to use CATL batteries across its full model range over the long term.
The companies plan to accelerate the second phase of their “Plant in Plant” project at the SERES Super Factory. Phase 2 is planned to provide 10 to 12 GWh of annual capacity. After its completion, the two phases are expected to have more than 20 GWh of combined annual capacity. CATL and SERES said the clustered production model is intended to improve industrial efficiency and cost competitiveness. They also aim to support Chongqing’s development of a trillion-yuan industrial cluster for high-end intelligent connected new energy vehicles.
The agreement also covers supercharging networks and battery services. The companies plan to create a full-lifecycle service system intended to improve the user experience.
CATL and SERES will also explore overseas markets together, including Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. The cooperation is intended to bring their products and services to customers in those regions and support the shift toward intelligent electric mobility in key markets.
CATL said it will continue to use technological innovation and industrial-chain collaboration to support the development of the new energy vehicle industry.
