Australian energy infrastructure service provider Zinfra and battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on the delivery and maintenance of large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Australia. This strategic cooperation framework aims to accelerate CATL’s localization strategy and to enhance the country’s energy storage capacity.
Zinfra, an established provider of energy and utility infrastructure services in Australia, specializes in engineering design, project management, and operations and maintenance for electricity and gas networks. With an annual project and services portfolio exceeding AUD 1.2 billion, Zinfra has a proven track record in building, integrating, and sustaining both traditional power networks and new renewable energy assets.
The partnership will leverage an integrated “product + service” model under which CATL’s advanced battery modules are combined with Zinfra’s local delivery capabilities. The joint service offering will encompass system engineering, installation, commissioning, digital monitoring, and long-term technical support. By adopting a light-asset, low-risk approach, the model aims to optimize capital efficiency, accelerate project timelines, and improve system uptime through real-time performance analytics and predictive maintenance.
CATL has led global energy storage battery shipments for five consecutive years, capturing approximately 30.4 percent of the market in 2025, according to SNE Research. The company has successfully deployed around 2,300 energy storage projects worldwide, demonstrating its expertise in scalable battery solutions.
Looking ahead, the collaboration with Zinfra is expected to support Australia’s transition to renewable energy by providing flexible, reliable grid services and reinforcing energy resilience. Both parties intend to explore further opportunities in hybrid renewable installations and grid stabilization services. CATL will continue partnering with local firms to strengthen service capacity and contribute to the development of a sustainable, resilient energy infrastructure in Australia.
