The TALISSMAN project, financed under Horizon Europe, officially kicked off with a two-day meeting hosted by CIDETEC Energy Storage in San Sebastián, Spain, on July 1 and 2, 2025. All project partners attended to launch a collaborative effort aimed at advancing lithium–sulfur battery technologies for aerospace and electromobility applications. The opening session included a welcome from the host organization, partner introductions, and a presentation by the European Commission’s Project Officer on the policy framework guiding Horizon Europe.
Throughout the meeting, participants reviewed the project’s technical roadmap, which covers lithium metal anode design, electrolyte and separator development, cathode innovations, prototype manufacturing, and sustainability criteria. Detailed discussions addressed communication protocols, exploitation strategies, and strategic planning for the first six months of implementation. These sessions established alignment on deliverables, milestones, and responsibilities across the consortium.
Attendees also toured CIDETEC’s research facilities, gaining firsthand insight into ongoing battery development efforts. Networking activities provided an opportunity for partners to exchange ideas and explore potential interdisciplinary collaborations. The event concluded with a focused session on short-term objectives, coordination mechanisms, and next steps in the project timeline. By uniting academic institutions, research centers, and industry stakeholders, the TALISSMAN project aims to deliver high-performance, safer, and more sustainable lithium–sulfur batteries for the European mobility sector.
