Scania has broadened its electrification portfolio to include industrial off-road applications, providing equipment manufacturers and fleet operators with complete electric powertrain solutions. The new offering covers a range of electric drivelines, battery modules, charging systems and associated services tailored for heavy-duty off-road vehicles such as wheel loaders, dump trucks, port handlers and forestry machinery.
The modular powertrain components include high-torque electric motors, inverters and battery packs with scalable capacities designed to meet the energy demands of typical shift-length operations. Scania’s dimensioning and integration services support vehicle builders through system design, installation, calibration and commissioning, enabling faster time-to-market and reduced development risk.
Charging solutions in the new portfolio span AC on-board units for depot charging as well as DC fast chargers capable of replenishing battery capacity in under an hour. Scania also offers energy-management software to monitor state of charge, predict range and optimize charging schedules based on operational requirements. This holistic approach is intended to minimize downtime and streamline fleet electrification.
Drawing on experience from its electric buses and trucks, Scania emphasises benefits such as lower greenhouse gas and particulate emissions, reduced noise levels, and enhanced operator comfort and productivity in off-road work environments. The company is collaborating with OEMs and integrators on pilot installations in Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific to validate performance under real-world conditions and gather data for continuous improvement.
