Svolt Energy announced on October 26, 2026, that the first batch of its mass-produced 100-kWh Dragon Armor semi-solid fast-charging battery packs had rolled off the production line in Changzhou, Jiangsu province.
Chairman and CEO Yang Hongxin said the pack has secured nominations from multiple customers, with vehicle details to be disclosed later. The announcement did not identify the customers or state the size of the initial production batch.
The product uses separator transfer-printing technology in its semi-solid cells. Svolt said the design improves intrinsic battery safety while supporting fast charging and long service life. The pack uses liquid cooling on its top and bottom and supports a 900-volt architecture and 6C charging. According to Yang, it can add 500 km (311 miles) of range in 12 minutes.
The underside incorporates six armor layers and provides impact resistance at three times the level required by China’s national standard, Yang said. He also said high-speed stacking technology enables more than 3,000 cycles and a theoretical lifetime driving distance exceeding 1 million km. Svolt did not disclose the test conditions behind its range-replenishment claim.
Svolt said it views semi-solid batteries, particularly for battery electric vehicles using ternary batteries, as a long-term technology rather than only a transition to all-solid-state designs. The company plans to continue advancing semi-solid batteries before all-solid-state batteries. Semi-solid cells combine liquid and solid electrolytes, while all-solid-state cells use solid electrolytes exclusively.
In May, Svolt said it planned to begin large-scale production of 100-kWh semi-solid batteries in September, with costs expected to match conventional liquid-electrolyte lithium-ion batteries. It also predicted that 2026 would mark the start of broad semi-solid battery adoption.
Svolt, formerly GWM’s power battery division, became independent in February 2018. SNE Research reported that its global EV battery installations reached 22.0 GWh in the first eight months of this year, up 39.3% year over year and representing a 2.6% market share. CABIA ranked Svolt fourth in China’s ternary battery segment in September with a 6.31% share.

The first mass-produced batch rolled off the line in Changzhou, advancing commercialization of semi-solid battery technology.
The standout is Svolt’s stronger ternary position: 6.31% and fourth in September, versus 1.97% and tenth overall; independent since February 2018 from GWM (HKEX: 2333).
