UL Solutions Inc., a testing, inspection and certification provider, announced on October 26, 2026, the opening of its expanded facility in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The laboratory is intended to provide manufacturers, retailers and brands in Vietnam and Southeast Asia with more local support for product testing, compliance and market access.
The expanded site combines testing for retail and consumer products, electrical and electronic products, food-contact materials, furniture, packaging, outdoor living products, power tools, and lawn and garden equipment. UL Solutions said bringing these services into one location can reduce testing complexity, shorten lead times and limit the need to transport samples over long distances.
The facility includes the company’s first dedicated tools testing laboratory in Vietnam. Its scope covers power tools, lawn and garden equipment, battery-operated tools and systems, as well as related battery pack and control evaluations. Testing is conducted in accordance with applicable UL and IEC standards. According to the company, these services can help manufacturers identify safety and compliance issues earlier during product development and production and support access to North American and other international markets.
UL Solutions has also added its first controlled indoor environment in Vietnam for evaluating products intended for outdoor use. The area can accommodate large products such as gazebos, canopies and outdoor furniture, allowing them to be assessed under controlled conditions designed to simulate real-world weather events.
Additional capabilities at the Ho Chi Minh City laboratory include product safety, chemical, indoor air quality and environmental assessments. The company said the location is close to relevant customers and manufacturing networks and provides access to transportation infrastructure connecting southern Vietnam with markets across Southeast Asia.
Upayan SenGupta, senior vice president for Testing, Inspection and Certification, Consumer, said the expansion responds to diversified global supply chains and increased sourcing across Southeast Asia. The Ho Chi Minh City facility operates as part of UL Solutions’ global laboratory network.
