XCharge North America and Energy Plus have announced a collaboration to develop one of the largest battery-backed electric vehicle (EV) charging depots in the United States. Located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the facility is scheduled to begin operations in the second quarter of 2026 and will serve 88 parking spaces under Energy Plus’ Eplug brand. The depot will feature 44 GridLink energy storage units, delivering a total of 9.46 MWh of on-site battery capacity.
By integrating bidirectional battery storage, the project will draw power during off-peak hours and feed energy back into the local grid when demand is highest. This approach aims to reduce strain on New York City’s electrical infrastructure, bolster resilience against peak-hour grid stress, and help stabilize electricity costs. The storage system will support the city’s goals for energy resilience and affordability by smoothing demand spikes and enabling the integration of cleaner energy sources.
“Helping launch the East Coast’s largest battery-backed fast-charging depot is a defining moment for XCharge NA and for the EV industry,” said Aatish Patel, co-founder and president of XCharge NA. “Through this strategic alignment with Energy Plus, we’re proving that the EV transition can thrive domestically, setting a model for how public and private companies can come together to accelerate the clean energy transition and make urban energy cleaner, faster, and smarter.”
“This is what American-made electrification looks like in practice: XCharge North America provides the cutting-edge technology and hardware, and we build the infrastructure here with local American labor,” said Moshe Lefkowitz, founder of Energy Plus. “Together we’re not only creating a model that any U.S. city can replicate, but also laying the foundation for Eplug, a network designed for real urban life—one that’s dependable, familiar, and as easy to use as stepping into your local café to grab a cup of coffee.”
Energy Plus plans to expand the Eplug network to additional metropolitan areas, offering transparent pricing, a loyalty rewards program, and partnerships with nearby businesses. The network will also include dedicated fleet-charging solutions designed for predictable scheduling and high uptime, supporting commercial operators’ long-term electrification plans.
