Company Overview

E-Magy is a Dutch technology company founded in 2013, headquartered in Broek op Langedijk near Amsterdam. It focuses on advancing lithium-ion battery performance with its proprietary nano-porous silicon anode material, aiming to overcome silicon’s limitations and enable mass production of silicon-dominant batteries without significant capital expenditures for manufacturers.

Battery Technology

Proprietary nano-porous silicon anode material engineered to contain silicon’s volumetric expansion, enabling a silicon weight ratio >80% and <5% pouch cell thickness variation. Achieves up to 40% higher energy density per kilogram and up to three times faster charging, uses low-cost metallurgical-grade silicon to reduce production costs and carbon emissions sixfold. Fully compatible with existing lithium-ion manufacturing equipment; in-house 1,200 m² facility produces 25 tons annually, scalable to 300 tons per line.

Products

Nano-porous silicon anode material and Silicon Anode Solution integrated into existing lithium-ion battery production lines. Features include >80% silicon composition, 40% energy density boost, up to 3× faster charging, minimal pouch cell thickness variation, and low-carbon production footprint.

Recent Projects

Collaborations with ZSW and TU Delft validating performance; participation in the ESiLib consortium for closed-loop battery manufacturing; Green Battery Initiative integrating recycling; CES 2025 Best Startup Award; production capacity enhancements at Amsterdam facility to meet sustainable battery materials demand.

Investors

In the 2021 seed round, the company raised €5M from SHIFT Invest, PDENH, and the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy. In the 2023 Series A, it secured €20.5M from Hydro, Rubio Impact Ventures, Invest-NL, and prior investors, plus a €5.5M subsidy from the Dutch National Growth Fund (NXTGEN HIGHTECH).
