Exigo Recycling Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian company established in 2012 with a focus on sustainable waste management and resource recovery, particularly for electronic waste (e-waste). The company specializes in the safe handling, dismantling, and processing of waste streams to recover valuable secondary raw materials. Exigo Recycling operates under authorizations from regulatory bodies in India, including State Pollution Boards and the Central Government, ensuring compliance in the collection, transportation, and disposal of electronic waste.

With a mission to simplify the management of end-of-life electronic assets, Exigo Recycling aims to support a and enable a circular economy. The company utilizes advanced processes to convert waste into resources, thereby contributing to environmental responsibility and a reduction in the need for primary raw material extraction. Exigo’s operations are structured to manage a wide range of waste categories and serve various industries, emphasizing social engagement and ethical governance within its operational framework.

Battery Technology

Exigo Recycling provides specialized technology and processes for the recycling of various battery types, with a particular focus on lithium-ion batteries. The company handles chemistries such as Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP), Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC), Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LCO), Lithium Titanium Oxide (LTO), Zinc Manganese Oxide (ZMO), and Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH).

Their technological approach combines both mechanical processing and hydrometallurgical methods. Mechanical processes, such as shredding and black mass extraction, prepare the battery material for further treatment. Hydrometallurgical techniques are then employed for the efficient recovery of battery-grade raw materials. These materials include lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, and graphite. By recovering these components, Exigo enables them to re-enter the battery manufacturing supply chain. This closed-loop recycling process reduces the dependence on newly mined raw materials. Exigo’s services in battery recycling cater to sectors including electric vehicles, consumer electronics, IT equipment, and renewable energy storage.

Recent Projects

In April 2024, Exigo Recycling entered into a partnership with Ipower Batteries. This collaboration is centered on managing the lifecycle of lithium batteries. The agreement involves Exigo recycling Ipower’s end-of-life batteries, aiming to create a closed-loop system. This project utilizes advanced recycling technologies to recover valuable metals from the batteries, with the goal of minimizing environmental impact. The partnership also includes joint efforts to promote policies supporting sustainable battery disposal and recycling practices within the industry.

Investors

Exigo Recycling has received investment through a joint venture established in 2021 with MTC Group. This partnership created MTC-Exigo Recycling Pvt. Ltd. (MERPL). The collaboration involved a phased investment approaching USD 25 million. This investment aims to enhance and expand recycling infrastructure and capabilities across India.
