LION E-Mobility AG, a prominent battery pack manufacturer specializing in e-mobility and energy storage solutions, has announced that its subsidiary, LION Smart GmbH, has initiated the delivery of initial samples of the new NMC+ battery platform to selected key customers. This delivery signifies the commencement of the platform strategy implementation and marks the beginning of the final validation phase ahead of the planned series production ramp-up.
The NMC+ platform is engineered as a scalable and modular system, facilitating the rapid and cost-effective customization of battery systems based on a standardized technological framework. The platform incorporates advanced cell chemistry and optimized thermal management, delivering enhanced energy and power density to meet the stringent demands of mobility and storage applications.
The first modular system solution based on the NMC+ platform, known as the “LION Smart Mobility Power 53,” is set to be adopted by customers in the near future. This system exemplifies the platform’s capability to merge high technological performance with significant application flexibility.

The initial deliveries mark the start of the validation phase with selected lead customers, who will utilize the battery systems in specific application scenarios. The goal is to gather dependable data on performance, integration, and scalability under real-world conditions. Insights gained from this phase will directly contribute to the final optimization of the product. The company anticipates beginning the series production ramp-up by the end of 2025.
