Lithium Werks, a subsidiary of Reliance New Energy Limited, specializes in advanced lithium-ion battery solutions with a focus on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology. The company operates production facilities in China while maintaining offices in the United States and the Netherlands. Since its establishment in 2017 by industry veterans Joseph T. Fisher II and Christian F. P. Ringvold, Lithium Werks has been dedicated to accelerating the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy through reliable storage solutions. With over 400 patents in LFP technology, including exclusive rights to superior LFP nano-technology and manufacturing methods, the company serves multiple sectors including energy storage, transportation, marine, and industrial applications.

Battery Technology

Lithium Werks’ core technology centers on their patented Nanophosphate® LFP cells, particularly the 18650 and 26650 formats. These cells demonstrate exceptional characteristics in power delivery, charging speed, and cycle life. The company’s LFP technology eliminates the need for cobalt, offering enhanced safety features and cost advantages compared to traditional Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) batteries.

The manufacturing process incorporates proprietary Nanophosphate cathode materials, developed through collaboration with MIT researchers. This technology enables superior thermal stability across various operating conditions while maintaining consistent output. Additionally, Lithium Werks produces custom battery packs and modules designed with premium components to meet specific application requirements. Their battery management systems optimize performance and extend product lifespan, making them suitable for demanding applications in industrial equipment, marine systems, and energy storage installations.

Recent Projects

In November 2024, Lithium Werks established a distribution partnership with Red Origin Technologies to supply LFP cells, modules, and custom battery packs throughout Turkey and neighboring regions. March 2024 marked the introduction of their new 18650 LFP energy cell at MODEX 24 in Atlanta. The company also acquired a significant patent for manganese-based phosphates in July 2023, promising a 20% increase in energy density while maintaining performance standards.

Investors

Reliance New Energy Limited became the primary owner of Lithium Werks through a $61 million asset acquisition in 2022. Prior to this acquisition, the company received financial support from Oost NL, a Dutch investment company, through a 7.5 million euro loan. The integration with Reliance Industries has provided Lithium Werks with additional resources and expanded global reach capabilities.
