Automotive Cells Company (ACC) and JR Energy Solution (JRES) signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding on September 30, 2026, to explore cooperation in battery electrode manufacturing in Europe. The companies will assess flexible electrode production options located closer to battery customers’ Western operations.
The proposed cooperation would combine JRES’s experience in electrode and cell manufacturing with ACC’s automotive-grade electrode manufacturing expertise and available capacity at its Nersac facility in France. JRES will evaluate how the site could complement its industrial footprint and supply network while supporting future customer programs.
Any manufacturing or supply arrangements would depend on successful technical and quality qualification, the negotiation of definitive agreements, and applicable corporate and regulatory approvals. According to the companies, the cooperation could support potential business opportunities for customers in Europe, Korea, and North America.
ACC’s Nersac facility operates as an industrial excellence and pilot center, connecting product and process development with industrial-scale manufacturing. The company said the site has demonstrated its ability to manufacture automotive-grade electrodes. Potential customer programs would complement ACC’s existing product development, testing, and industrial activities while making use of available manufacturing capacity.
The memorandum also provides a framework for broader collaboration in battery manufacturing. ACC and JRES plan to explore manufacturing solutions tailored to customer-specific technical, quality, and industrialization requirements.
ACC develops and manufactures battery cells and modules for electric vehicles using NMC lithium-ion chemistry. It employs approximately 2,500 people across sites in France’s Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Hauts-de-France regions. JRES is a South Korean battery manufacturing foundry that provides customized electrode and cell production, process development, validation, cell assembly, and production scale-up across multiple battery technologies and chemistries.
