BYD plans to deploy 100 flash chargers in Europe by the end of 2026 and expand the regional network to 3,000 units by the end of 2027, company officials said at the Paris Auto Show. The automaker deployed its first European flash charger in Germany in June and has also installed chargers in other markets, including the UK.
The flash chargers provide single-connector DC output of up to 1,500 kW. According to BYD, compatible vehicles equipped with its second-generation Blade Battery can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes, while charging from 10% to 97% takes nine minutes.
BYD currently operates 12,165 flash chargers across China and plans to deploy 20,000 charging stations globally by the end of 2026. Its target of 3,000 European units by the end of 2027 would represent half of the 6,000-station overseas flash-charging network planned for that year.

BYD’s up to 1,500 kW single-gun DC system is scaling ahead of the all-electric Atto 8 EV and more compatible models.
The Denza Z9 GT is Europe’s only compatible BYD-made car; Germany’s first charger arrived in June, and UK sites also operate.
The Denza Z9 GT station wagon is currently the only BYD-made vehicle in Europe capable of using the flash-charging technology. The company expects additional compatible models to enter the European market.
BYD plans to introduce the all-electric Atto 8 crossover in Europe in the first quarter of 2027. The seven-seat vehicle is expected to become the first BYD-badged flash-charging model in the region. It will come standard with a 115 kWh LFP battery and two electric motors producing a combined peak output of 570 kW. Its stated WLTP driving range is 653 km. BYD said more flash-charging models will follow the Atto 8 in Europe next year.
