BYD has introduced a new residential energy ecosystem in Europe and showcased its latest home-storage solution, the Battery-Box Mega, at the Smarter E Europe 2026 exhibition in Munich, Germany. Held June 23–25, the event ranks among Europe’s largest energy industry gatherings. BYD Energy Storage presented a comprehensive product lineup designed to serve a variety of residential and small commercial applications.

The newly launched residential energy ecosystem features three main components: the Smart Ecobox, the Backup-Box and the AC Charging Box. Serving as an intelligent energy management hub, the Smart Ecobox enables advanced scheduling and optimization of household power usage. The Backup-Box provides uninterrupted backup electricity during grid outages, while the AC Charging Box integrates electric vehicle charging directly into the home-storage system. Together, these products expand beyond traditional “PV plus storage” configurations to integrate power generation, storage, management, backup and charging in a unified ecosystem.

The Battery-Box Mega, highlighted at the show, is targeted at both residential and small commercial settings such as factories, farms, shops and hotels. It combines commercial-grade performance with residential convenience, offering capacities from 62.4 kWh up to 5.24 MWh. Built with lithium iron phosphate cells, the unit features a four-layer safety protection architecture, IP66 dust and water resistance, the highest C5 corrosion protection rating and an operating temperature range from –20 °C to 55 °C. Designed for maintenance-free operation, it requires no fluid replacement or periodic inspections over its lifetime and benefits from a DC-coupled architecture that improves efficiency by approximately 2 percent.

Each Battery-Box Mega module delivers 12.5 kWh, allowing flexible configurations from 62.4 kWh to 262 kWh to shorten installation timelines and reduce upfront costs. The system pairs with BYD’s Power-Box TH inverter, which supports a 42 A high-current MPPT, 200 percent PV oversizing, 150 percent off-grid overload capability for heavy-duty equipment and 10-millisecond backup switching.

In addition to its residential offerings, BYD exhibited utility-scale storage solutions including the BYD Haohan, next-generation GC Flux PCS and GC Master EMS. The company emphasized its role in Europe’s clean energy transition with gigawatt-scale, grid-forming storage deployments. Earlier this month, BYD supplied the energy storage system for Hungary’s largest battery project—a 99.8 MW/288.6 MWh installation by Greenvolt Power—and has now delivered large-scale projects in over 110 countries.
