Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) and Galbot have entered into a global strategic cooperation agreement to advance smart manufacturing and expand the deployment of AI humanoid robots worldwide. The partnership aims to upgrade factory automation lines, accelerate large-scale applications of humanoid robots, and jointly establish the first aftermarket service standard for these machines.

At the heart of this collaboration is the Galbot S1, a heavy-duty humanoid robot powered by CATL battery cells. The robot features a dual-arm payload capacity of 50 kilograms, vision-only centimeter-level precision positioning, and 360° omnidirectional obstacle avoidance. CATL’s advanced battery design incorporates particle-size grading technology for cathodes, low-lithium-consumption anodes, and a bionic self-healing electrolyte. These innovations reduce cell failure rates to the parts-per-billion level and enable up to eight hours of continuous operation while ensuring long service life and high safety standards on production lines.

The Galbot S1 has already been deployed on CATL’s intelligent production lines, where it performs extended autonomous tasks in module assembly and battery pack manufacturing. By handling repetitive, hazardous, and physically demanding processes such as material handling and picking, the robot directly reduces the physical workload of shop floor operators and enhances overall production efficiency.

In addition to integrating the Galbot S1 into its factories, CATL will extend its established NING Service Network—previously dedicated to power batteries and energy storage systems—to cover AI humanoid robots. This service network offers battery inspection, maintenance, and recycling, and will now support the full life cycle of humanoid robots. Through this initiative, CATL and Galbot will introduce the world’s first aftermarket service standard for AI humanoid robots, laying the groundwork for reliable maintenance and efficient operations in automated manufacturing environments.
