On Aug. 24, 2026, CATL announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Schaeffler, a global motion technology company, to expand cooperation in battery management systems and integrated power management solutions. The agreement is intended to support the development of localized electric control solutions for European automakers and to contribute to Europe’s new energy transition.

According to the companies, the collaboration will combine Schaeffler’s on-board charger and high-to-low voltage DC-DC converter solutions with CATL’s cell monitoring unit and high-voltage power distribution unit technologies. The partnership will center on two main areas of work. The first is the joint development of battery management system solutions aimed at the European market, with a focus on meeting customer demand for high-safety and high-quality electric control products. The second is the co-creation of “X-in-One” integrated power management systems.

CATL and Schaeffler said the integrated power management approach will bring together high-voltage electric control, power distribution, and voltage conversion in a deeper way. By reducing the number of wire harnesses and components, the system is designed to support lighter and more compact battery pack structures. The companies said this can also help lower overall vehicle costs while improving range performance.

The memorandum reflects CATL’s stated plan to continue working with partners across the global industrial chain on highly integrated, ultra-safe, and locally supplied electric control solutions. The company said such cooperation is aimed at supporting the broader transition to new energy and advancing sustainable development.
